Collaboratively Building Sustainable Communities

The Naserian Foundation is a Kenyan-registered NGO focused on education, healthcare, gender equality, technologies, food security, clean water, conservation, economic empowerment, arts & culture, and responsible tourism. Our projects focus on the betterment of local human populations, wildlife species preservation and environmental protection. The vision of the Naserian Foundation is to support programmes that combine the traditional wisdom of local communities with cutting edge thinking and technology from around the world to create a more equitable and sustainable future for the world’s most vulnerable communities.


A significant infrastructure-building program is underway in the village of Olpalagilagi in the Maasai Mara, which will provide a template that can be exported throughout Africa.

NASERIAN HEALTH CLINIC

Healthcare & Wellness in Remote Areas

The Naserian Medical Clinic will serve a population of 11,000+, providing primary, maternal, paediatric, emergency and referral services to people within, and directly adjacent to, the Maasai Mara National Reserve, surrounding conservancies and other community lands who currently have to travel many hours to receive medical care. 

The clinic will include a Wellness Centre to promote healthy living, with a special focus on mental health services and women's pre-natal and neonatal healthcare programmes, fitness and nutrition. The clinic will also have mobile units to reach remote areas and provide emergency evacuation services for the critically ill to Narok County Referral Hospital.

OLPALAGILAGI SCHOOL

Education is Fundamental to Well-Being

The Naserian Foundation will work closely with Narok County Government and the local community to refurbish Olpalagilagi's existing pre-school and primary school. The School currently has no stable electricity, no ICT provision and very limited teaching resources. Despite these significant challenges, a committed faculty, an enthusiastic student body and  a supportive parental community achieves extraordinary educational results. We will build new classrooms, new boarding and ancillary facilities, reliable electricity supply and internet connection, and provide supplies necessary to operate a connected and thriving school community. 

In addition, the school will expand to serve Secondary School students. In our Phase II, we plan to add adult education facilities to service local parents and community members who wish to continue their education and skill building. 

PERMACULTURE INITIATIVE

Sustainable Healthy Food Sources for Life

The Naserian Foundation development project in Olpalagilagi seeks to address the full spectrum of developmental needs to increase the chances of significant positive outcomes for the community. Ensuring adequate nutrition for our core populations, as well as greater nutritional resilience in the wider community is a strategic priority. Without adequate nutrition, other efforts will produce suboptimal results.

The Foundation will integrate a significant permaculture operation into its school and clinic developments, and will encourage the adoption of key permaculture principles in the wider community. 

PERMACULTURE ALLIANCE

Partnering with Global Leaders in Permaculture

Permaculture has the revolutionary capacity to provide food security for vulnerable populations, while vigorously progressing regeneration of distressed landscapes. It has the proven ability to achieve extraordinary results with far fewer inputs than in traditional agriculture, greatly reducing farmers' reliance on chemicals that are both expensive and have harmful side-effects.

Naserian Foundation has collaborated with leading permaculture practitioners on the formation of The Permaculture Alliance. The Alliance will act as a convenor of thought-leaders in this critical sector, to allow best-practices to be defined and shared and to provide a forum for discussion and training. The Alliance will engage with key governmental and non-governmental partners in its target geographies to drive uptake of permaculture.

CONSERVATION

Preserving Wildlife and Empowering Communities in the Maasai Mara

The Naserian Foundation's conservation initiative in the Maasai Mara focuses on protecting wildlife while promoting sustainable livelihoods for local Maasai communities. By working closely with these communities, the foundation supports habitat conservation, anti-poaching efforts, and the preservation of endangered species.

Their initiatives also emphasize the importance of educating and empowering the Maasai people to actively participate in conservation, ensuring that the unique biodiversity of the Maasai Mara is safeguarded for future generations. Through targeted efforts like sustainable land management and wildlife protection, Naserian Foundation fosters a harmonious coexistence between the Maasai people and their environment.
